QR Code

QR code (Quick Response code) is a two-dimensional barcode. It has an array of black and white squares in the shape of a square. This shape is often used in cases where traditional barcodes, like the ones on most grocery items, are not possible because they would obscure designs or pictures. QR codes can be read by many different QR scanners that are free to download for most smartphones with cameras.

The technology was developed in Japan by an automotive component manufacturer called Denso Wave in 1994 to track vehicles during assembly plant operations. From there, it became popular with car dealerships, media organizations, and publishers to send targeted messages to a user's smartphone. Users can input a company's URL into a browser or scan a QR code on a poster or magazine ad with their camera phone in order to learn more information about the company.

QR codes can also be used as a marketing tool for those who distribute goods by adding the code to goods. They can also serve as a form of advertising for those who seek to brand their company and spread their name by implementing the QR code in much the same way as one would use a sticker or other marketing material.
