Binary, octal, decimal, and hexadecimal are all number systems that represent values in different ways. They are used for counting, measuring, and computing. A number system is a set of symbols for representing numbers.

Binary numbers can only use 0s and 1s, while octal numbers only use the digits 0-7. Decimal numbers, on the other hand, can use any digit from 0-9. Hexidecimal is a system that uses a base of 16 instead of 10 like decimal.

Binary numbers are ones and zeros. They can be used to represent all numbers, but they are most useful for representing the values of computer memory (on or off).

Octal is a base 8 number system that has 8 digits; 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. It was widely used in computing before hexadecimal became more popular.

Decimal is a base 10 number system that has 10 digits; 0-9. It's the most widely used in computing today because it's what we use when counting with our fingers  and in everyday life.

Hexidecimal is a base 16 number system with 16 digits from 0-9 and letters A-F.
